Job Purpose including main duties and responsibilities:
- To provide healthy balanced meals and snacks to the children of the setting, to provide those children who have allergies or intolerances a meal in accordance with their needs.
- To help with the menu changes and allergen information to which we provide to parents
- To order the produce and ingredients for the meals and snacks, making sure any and substitutes are appropriate
- To assist the Early years practitioners, Deputy manager and Manager in providing a healthy, safe and functioning environment.
- To carry out appropriate duties in the kitchen and other areas your job will need to be undertaken.
- To maintain a clean and sterile working environment, to clean all surfaces and areas where food is to be prepared.
- To have at least a level 2 in Food hygiene and allergy training.
- To maintain the settings recycling and rubbish disposal routines
- All policies are read and adhered to for the setting including safeguarding
- To ensure confidentially within the Setting at all times;
- To participate in activities which fall outside of normal working hours as required, e.g. Training, Staff Meetings, fundraising events, etc.
- Ensure that routines within your job role are carried out in a safe and responsible manner in accordance with statutory responsibilities;
- Ensure that food preparation and handling within the setting is carried out within the guidelines of the Food Safety Act 1990;
- To undertake continuous professional development, including short courses and qualifications where needed
- To promote the aims and objectives of the Setting;
- To actively promote and support the safeguarding of children and young people in the workplace, ensuring that all staff and volunteers observe Setting policies and procedures to keep children safe from harm.
- To understand and adhere to Setting policies, procedures and standards at all times;
- To offer the highest standards of physical and emotional care, health and safety, and food hygiene at all times;
- To undertake such other duties and responsibilities of an equivalent nature as may be determined from time to time by the Deputy manager/ Manager/ staff member such as lunch breaks or overtime.
